His obsession for chess became stronger and stronger over the years, and of his marriage in 1927, a friend, Man Ray wrote:
“Duchamp spent most of the honeymoon week studying chess problems,and his wife took revenge by getting up out of desperation one night while hewas asleep and glued all the pieces to the board. They divorced three months later. “
